On Pahalgam and Unity
How scary and unreal the entire scenario must be for the victims of #Pahalgam. Young couples on a honeymoon, a grandfather taking his grandkids on a long planned retirement trip. I pray for their souls and for the families - the strength to recover. And yes, most of them were Hindus and they met this fate because of their religion.
It took me a day to reflect and voice out what I wanted to say, because I honestly don't want to be 'othered'. I see calls for destruction and violence, and not just condemnation.
I have friends who are Muslims, and from other religions. I will never and cannot say - All muslims are terrorists.
India is a secular country, you like it or not, that's what the country's history is and constitution says.
Hindus are considered the most peace loving, and we are not taught violence, we say. Then why are we taking up violence now? Killing another will not save our own. Maybe we feel peace doesn't bring us peace, but neither will violence.
No other country in the world has as much diversity and culture as us, and no one can imagine what we have done to build this nation, no one can do what we do either.
This must be a day when we stand together.. clearly it didn't matter if the victim spoke Kannada or Hindi, and we were arguing about that just yesterday.
Lets not forget We #standunitedinpeace
If Kashmir is an integral part of India, let's not forget that for the State to recover we must be inclusive of everyone from Kashmir.
